Review of She Hate Me (2004) by Andrew S — 16 Mar 2008
The subject matter and plot are quite unusual especially for a director such as Spike Lee. But he certainly makes it work he tells an interesting story with some well developed and unique characters. The entire cast give great performances but both Mackie and Washington shine the most.
Washington simply has fun with her role and we the audience have fun her play it. Mackie proves that he can play more then just a stereotypical gangster. Although the ending is a bit too happy ending for my taste.
