Review of Shaun of the Dead (2004) by Phillip D — 13 Aug 2015
I had always heard a great deal about Wright's "trilogy" of movies, most of all the vaunted Shaun of the Dead. After watching it, I remain quite underwhelmed. Shaun of the Dead is a perfectly pleasant comedy but it lacks big laughs and the film style is extremely annoying.
The dark, dry and charming British humor is missing as well, with much of the film relying on nominally successful jokes about Shaun and Ed or cheesy gags that belong in a kids movie. It isn't hard to watch, but you won't find yourself glued to the screen either.
