Review of Sharktopus (2010) by John D — 06 Jan 2011
It is a SyFy movie called "Sharktopus", so one has to view it as such. All that is wanted is various degrees of exploding people and exploding fish, and Sharktopus surely delivers that. The worst sin a movie like this can perform is to become repetitive though, and unfortunately it gets to the point where people having their bodies tangled up by a sharktopus tentacles becomes the norm.
Some clever zipline and bungie jump scenes aside and there's not much left to watch for aside from the incredible amounts of cheese and poor firearm technique from the human actors (most especially Eric Roberts towards the finale).
Coupled with a bad looking monster and TV-movie obscenity restrictions, Sharktopus is merely serviceable B-movie entertainment.
