Review of Sharktopus (2010) by Jeffrey T — 21 Mar 2011
I like b-movies and I had to see this, the "thing" or the monster in this is a big hybrid, half Shark, half Octopus. The idea is interesting, but it also gives the notion right from the start that it have to be a bit weird and silly, and it is.
The both good and bad thing about this is, that it in no way seems to be serious and doesn't aim to be in any way, of course a film with this monster and this name could be taken serious but it could have played more on the b-genre it is in and done it great and fantastic, but it stay at mediocre and silly.
The Sharktopus in it self is very good and fun, but the fact that it can stay above water and squeal or roar like a beast is what usually bring these big beast to a laughing matter and this is no different.
I give it a bit of credit for bringing Eric Roberts back and for the attempt and bold effort to make something new and exciting.
