The Last time David r. Ellis delivered a gore-fest it went terribly wrong with the disappointing Final Destination 4, which was also in 3d. Now, her comes back to do the same but with sharks and enjoyment. Shark Night isnâ(TM)t anything special; in fact it isnâ(TM)t actually that good. It has a basic story with a lack of scare or fun, just a little drop of surprise every now and again. There are parts of the film which are enjoyable simply because of a few body parts thrown about here and there; and it isnâ(TM)t really as fun as I had hoped. When Piranha 3D came around everyone including myself thought it would be a mindless film that is an excuse to kill nude girls. We were right, but the film was fun, it was enjoyable and it was good. It surprised us all. When Shark Night came around I thought that maybe it would be similar and become a really fun movie. I was wrong. Its basically bikini girls falling of boats into shark-infested water. And wait for the biggest surprise of all⦠no nudity at all! What a shocker! The films about a group of good-looking friends who travel to a remote summer home in the middle of a lake to have a fun weekend. But, they discover that there are sharks amongst the water, trapping them. Right, itâ(TM)s a simple story with a small satisfying-enough twist which isnâ(TM)t anything different. The film has minimal scares, I donâ(TM)t even think it has any which is a major downfall in a horror (of course), and it doesnâ(TM)t even have the fun factor to make up for the missing element. So, in that case, I wouldnâ(TM)t even consider it a horror. A good thing about this film (probably the only good thing) is the characters. When watching this I tend to take a like or dislike towards a character which is good in a horror and can sometimes be frustrating when your favorite dies; which was the case in this movie. Instead of killing of them whiny blonde, they kill of the tough black-haired chick who gets her own back but is then planted into a cage full of little angry sharks under water who eat her alive. There are a few good moments of the film which are drowned out by clichà (C) (pardon the pun). In terms of clichà (C), there are a good few such as falling of moving boats, sharks chasing boat and the classic blood in water attracts the shark. Everything is expected, apart from  who brought the sharks to the lake, which actually came to a surprise to me.

VERDICT: Average from start to finish. Filled to the brim with clichà (C) and ineffective scares, lacks fun and has minimal enjoyment. We didnâ(TM)t expect the turn out of Piranha; but I did expect it from this mindless shark flick.

Grade:[C]   Score: 33/100.
