Review of Shanghai (1938) by Teddy B — 06 Jan 2011
An interesting WWII romantic-thriller epic based in Shanghai. Set shortly before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, cast members include John Cusack who plays an American agent, Ken Watanabe, Gong Li & Chow Yun-Fat.
Despite its interesting plot and beautiful cinematography, it's way too ambitious and it lack chemistry between the leads. It's neither Lust, Caution nor Casablanca.
