Review of Shane (1953) by Jared L — 25 Aug 2007
The story seems to take quite a bit from High Noon (1950). One man works to protect a community from a group that's terrorizing it. In this instance, however, not everyone else in the community backs down.
Jack Palance is memorable telling all challengers, "Prove it." Otherwise, the film doesn't have a lot to offer. There is plenty of mystery surrounding Shane's past and while I appreciate subtlety, things remain so subtle as to shed almost no light on Shane's history at all.
