Review of Shane (1953) by Joseph C — 04 Oct 2007

This was a very good movie, but at times it could be quite dull. A good western movie with some good themes and whatnot. Joey (Brandon De Wilde) annoyed me throughout the movie, but it seems that was partly his objective.

Also, his finishing line ("Shane! Shane! Come back!) did not have the effect that I thought it would have. Jean Arthur should have a larger role in the film because her and Ladd had some good chemistry, but it just ended with the end of Shane.

The largest spectacle of the film is the amibiguity of the ending, does Shane live or die? The world may never know.
