You can't blame Clint Eastwood for ripping off 'Shane,' it only proves that Eastwood has great taste in westerns. It is a shame that most people won't know that before 'Pale Rider,' there was 'Shane,' a great movie lead by a great lead character.
As for Montgomery Clift - Thanks for being too busy, because no one could have played the part better than Alan Ladd.
