Review of Shame (2011) by Nick O — 24 Aug 2012
"Shame" is the "Social Network" of 2011, because it shoots for the stars, and has its pain and sadness scored alongside difficult and unanswerable questions. McQueen films New York like a city of monoliths and towers, as the brilliant Fassbender's Brandon moves through its shadows in search of neon and streetlights.
It feels like a hanging portrait about to fall.
