Review of Shame (2011) by Andrew Y — 17 Nov 2012
Good acting by Fassbender but this didn't have much of a story. Style over substance - some really nice long shots and good cinematography. The movie is supposed to show how he spirals out of control when his sister unexpectedly stays - but his behaviour isn't that much more extreme than what he did before.
Thought the movie would be awkward to watch with a group of friends but probably the most awkward bit was the bit with Carey Milligan singing.
We learned more about the movie and understood it a bit better when reading the blurb for the movie. About the siblings past family history. We got an idea from what happened but wanted to know more.
At the end of the day, I didn't enjoy it (and it wasnt just me). Between 7 of us, it scored average of about 1.4 out of 5.
Only watch if you like Michael Fassbender. If you REALLY like him. You see an awful lot of him of you know what I mean ;).
