Review of Shallow Hal (2001) by Movie P — 10 Oct 2009
Like Spielberg or the Coens, even the weakest stuff from the Farrellys is still quality stuff. This isn't as crude, and nowhere near as funny as their best, but it's got a lot of charm and a few laughs.
It's also sweet and preachy in a very obvious way, but that's ok. It's a shame though this movie simplifies the prejudice of appearance into the assumptions that physically ugly folk are ALL beautiful on the inside, but within this simplistic framework Black pulls off his role perfectly.
And George Costanza's tail is absolutely brilliant.
