Review of Shallow Grave (1994) by Francis T — 21 Jul 2008
While as a thriller it's fairly good, as a black comedy, it fails... to the extent that I wouldn't have known it was supposed to be one if it weren't for everywhere labelling it as such (I can only assume the black comedy is supposed to be the characters' callous yuppie bastardry in the face of the subject matter, which largely subsides around the midpoint of the film anyway).
Still, as I said, it makes a reasonably exciting thriller, in spite of certain elements of the plot that succumb to fridge logic.
