Review of Shallow Grave (1994) by Dane P — 01 Nov 2014
Such a 90s thriller, but it's really effective. As his directorial debut, Shallow Grave showcases much of the style that Danny Boyle will be come known for. With some hip dialogue and characterizations of Generation X-ers, Shallow Grave begins almost like a comedy. However, when it switches to be more of a thriller, that's also effective.
Shallow Grave is in the same vein as a Coen brothers thriller where ordinary people deal with extraordinarily disturbing circumstances. Featuring equally great performances from the trio of stars, Shallow Grave shows a unique perspective in the thriller genre, seeing how three different types of characters deal with these circumstances.
I found it really fascinating, and was enthralled throughout.
