Review of Shall We Dance? (2004) by Elizabeth B — 22 May 2008
Omg...J. Lo totally reminds me of my sophomore year ballroom-dancing self in this one...you don't really get a chance to see her do her thing until the very end, but she is just so beautiful to watch.
Also, her warm-up outfits are way cute; I pretty much wanted all of them. Richard Gere is so sweet, funny, awkward, and actually pretty good-looking for an old dude. J. Lo is shy, quiet and lost, and together they make a perfect screen couple.
It's really not even a love story, which was a relief, because the chemistry between Gere and Susan Sarandon, who plays his wife, is really beautiful and I certainly did NOT want to see a good man cheat on his wife, even if it is with J.
Lo. It's a simple story about two lost souls who are desperately searching for happiness, and they both find it by means of each other. My mom LOVED this movie, so if you're looking for something to watch with Mom, this might be a good one :) And anyway if you love dancing, J.
Lo, cute ballroom warm-up outfits or Richard Gere, you'll like this one for sure.
