Review of Shall We Dance (1937) by Mark M — 14 Dec 2008
Great cast, funny story, amazing dancing, timeless music. Memorables: Astaire's "You Can't Take That Away From Me"; Rogers' look when she's perplexed, blushing, curious, funny; Astaire's taps to the mechanical rhythms of the cruise ship; Rogers' dresses (especially in the dog walking scenes); both being naturally funny with "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off"; dancing on roller skates!.
I have to say, I'm still kind of creeped out by the Rogers masks and making Astaire a "ballet" dancer didn't make much sense. Still, a very memorable movie!
