Review of Shall We Dance (1937) by Chris S — 14 Sep 2009
You'll never forget the chorus of women all with Ginger Rogers masks; it's surreal and disturbing at the same time. Most people consider Swing Time or Top Hat as the best Astaire/Rogers film but I think Shall We Dance is the film that captures everything that the other formulaic films haven't: Astaire and Rogers as a believable love team as well as adorable and charming characters, their dancing together seemingly like making love, a delightful story, and Ginger Rogers now keeping up with her partner.
