Review of Shakespeare in Love (1998) by Matt V — 09 Feb 2010

I was disappointed but maybe it was the 7 oscars that lifted my expectations a bit too high? Paltrow gave a captivating performance but when juxtaposed with Fiennes something just didn't fit. I enjoyed fantasizing about how Shakespeare created his many masterpieces but the whimsical and rather silly portrait of him in this film isn't something I want to believe - even if some think it fitting.

I think this movie just wasn't for me.
