"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?". Oh, who would not know Sonnet 18 from the master playwright William Shakespeare? It's immortal.

This line is said in one scene in the film. Actually most of his works are briefly mentioned in one part or another in the film. Joseph Fiennes plays Master Will in a fictional story about his life, his love and his most famous play, Romeo and Juliet. The film actually bears a bit of a resemblance with the play, Willliam Shakespeare is of the lower society, whereas his love, Viola de Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow) is a wealthy merchant's daughter. Both fall in love with each other and a fiery and passionate affair ensues, since she is arranged by her father to marry the despicable Lord Wessex (Colin Firth). Will their love be a happily-ever-after, or will they share the same fate as Romeo and Juliet?

This film highlights the skills and brilliance of William Shakespeare till the point where you will be left in awe with his literary skills. Joseph Fiennes plays it oh so passionately, going all out with his soul, romancing the beautiful and elusive Viola. Gwyneth Paltrow, with her suave English accent, sails gently into every scene, showcasing her acting effortlessly. The soundtrack that accompanies the scenes is beautiful and lamentable at the same time. Can a play/movie capture the nature of true love? Find out yourself then.
