Review of Shakespeare in Love (1998) by Shaun M — 11 Jan 2012
An incredibly witty, funny and romantic take on how and why William Shakespeare came up with the story of Romeo and Juliet. Joseph Fiennes is perfect as Shakespeare but Geoffrey Rush and Tom Wilkinson steal the show as the theatre owner and money lenderer he is indebted to, respectively.
Multiple viewings will be necessary to pick up on the several nods to Shakespeare's personal history as well as quotes and plots from his other works. However the more you watch it the more you will appreciate this Best Picture winner.
