Review of Shaft (1971) by Dave A — 17 Oct 2008
I never watched any blaxploitation films prior to seeing Shaft, but I can certainly respect and admire the style and content in Shaft. I mean, he's one bad mutha-SHUT YO MOUTH character! Richard Roundtree is calm like a bomb, and when he focuses his energy, Shaft is an awesome force to be reckoned with!
Although its 37 years old, Shaft stands up well against time. It was the first of many blaxploitation films during the 70s and is arguably the best (or so I'm told by film experts). Coupled with Isaac Hayes' memorable score, Shaft still sits well even in 2008.
