Shaft (1971) C-100m. ??? D: Gordon Parks. Richard Roundtree, Moses Gunn. Notably funky crime film about cool black private eye who is hired by criminal lord to find and rescue his kidnapped daughter. Not a complete success, but what assists this action thriller--and makes it worthwhile--is Isaac Hayes' iconic, Oscar-winning theme score.
Slick entertainment. Followed by two sequels.
