Review of Shadowplay (2007) by Brano H — 20 Jul 2009
The main idea does NOT work.
And that's just one of the problems of this film. Yousee, films like these stand and fall with their idea, the twist ending, the surprise explanation. But this one makes little sense and leaves too many questions unanswered. It's not even possible to tell whether the story is taking place in the present or in the future.
Other major problems include the acting (which is practicall non-existent), the unnatural dialogues (they feel artificial) and the length of the film (although it claims to be almost 90 minutes long, its actual length is only 70 minutes; the rest - almost 20 minutes - are end credits).
Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a good low-budget independent film, but 'Shadowplay' is not one of them. Avoid.
