Review of Shadow of the Vampire (2000) by Stu F — 19 Jul 2007
An awesome movie, but I love Nosferatu and Dracula. The scenes between Dafoe and Malkovich are just awesome. I'll admit they're probably the real meat of the movie. Also Mehrige, the director, has an obvious love of the craft as well as a deep admiration and understanding of old silent movies.
It's much less a vampire movie than it is a movie about changes in time, and the importance that film has begun to play in our lives and how we experience the world and art.
