Review of Shadow of the Vampire (2000) by Rodney E — 30 Sep 2008
This movie is brilliant. Simply brilliant. I can't think of many other movies that simply strike such a perfect tone, and hit every nail on the head. It's beautifully written, directed, shot, and ESPECIALLY acted.
Willem Dafoe gives the best performance of his career (in my opinion) as "Max Shreck", and John Malkovich is purely genius. Even the opening credit sequence is a genuine work of art; I could literally watch just that alone and be satisfied.
One of my favorite movies of all time.
