Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Carlos R — 17 Sep 2010
Another Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece, and while it's not at the same level of Vertigo or Rebecca, it's very, very close to their quality level. An amazing story-telling, fascinating characters, a creepy and very cold-blood villain (superb Joseph Cotten), a clever, charming and brilliant performance by Teresa Wright, and even that little girl made me laugh with the funny smart things she said.
The plot is structured perfectly, an amazing script. I would call it a beautiful dark thriller: charming, electrifying and exciting in equal proportions. Hitchcock's own personal favorite, is one of his best, no doubt about it.
