As context I used to love old movies, but lately I have had a lot of trouble watching them when they include so many anachronisms, especially the role of women. So I was pleasantly surprised to really enjoy this suspense film.
the script was by Thornton Wilder, so it was well written, well acted, and even though a modern remake would never stand up to modern day audiences, it entertained me. And the anachronisms (no cell phone! no internet!) was hearkening back to a simple time.
Ah, when a suspenseful moment is "Will she make it to the library before it closes, to read yesterday's paper!" {insert suspenseful music hear} so the quaintness overcame any feather-ruffling I might have otherwise cringed at.
