Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Calvin C — 08 Sep 2012
Early Hitchcock at his best. I like how there is a killer living in a small, quiet town where everyone seems to be nice to each other. And the fact that he is living with his family who have absolutely no idea what he really is just gives the film more tension. I really liked the psychological battle between Teresa Wright and Joseph Cotton. They really give "family first" a whole new meaning. This is one of Hitchcock's best indeed.
Grade: A-.
