Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Ayden S — 10 Mar 2013
As the trailer states, it really is a "masterpiece of suspense and mystery". With the magnificent Joseph Cotton in a performance only matched (But not surpassed) by Robert Walker in 1951's "Strangers on a Train" and the vastly underrated quietly professional and highly intelligent Teresa Wright who stands out in the Hitchcockian universe as a warm, idealistic character with a sharp mind rather than an icy blonde love interest, it really is one of my favorites of all of Hitchcock's films and the tension is so high it feels like it's been wrought with piano wires.
A must for anyone who wants a good introduction to Hitchcock.
