Review of Shade (2003) by Tv F — 06 Jun 2004
IN AMERICA is just one really good movie. An Irish family crosses into the United States from Canada and goes about living in Manhattan. Told from one of the young girls' point of view. Never gets sappy, and features some fantastic child acting. See it.
THE THING has an alien form taking over the bodies of a crew of Antarctic explorers. Because it has the ability to take on the form of others, nobody knows who is the 'thing' and is not. Naturally everybody turns paranoid and, well, you can guess the outcome. Cool ending.
SHADE is one of those movies that thinks it is too cool for school. Unfortunately, it isn't. Basically about a couple of cons hustling people at high stakes poker. The plot is overly convoluted with a ridiculous amount of twists. All the characters talk like something out of a retarded Tarantino flick. It sucks.
YOU GOT SERVED is the worst film ever made. More or less. I actually had a stomach ache before I started watching it. Bad freakin' idea, man. I totally got served. Whatever that means.
