Review of Shade (2003) by Sonya L — 03 Aug 2004
I wrote a whole damn review for this and RT freaking ate it. Die, bastards.
Anyway.
I'm not a real watcher of con movies (I've hardly seen any), which makes it really interesting for me to actually sit down and watch one. I spent half the movie thinking that I should be figuring out the con, but I'm instead getting nowhere and accusing everyone.
Once I got past the whole con issue, there wasn't a lot I liked about this film. It wasn't awful, but the card tricks and double crossing type stuff sure made it a lot more interesting than I expected it to be.
I'm really not a big fan of Sylvester Stallone (especially since seeing Judge Dredd...ew.) but he was actually pretty tolerable in this film.
Stuart Townsend was adorable and damn impressive with those card tricks.
Basically, this wasn't really a great film, but it's worth a rent. The card tricks alone are enough to keep you entertained for a while.
