Review of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978) by Melissa A — 10 Jan 2009
Alright let's be serious, this film would never have won an Academy Award. However, it's kitschy and has some great music. And (and don't hate me for this) I almost enjoy a few of the Frampton/BeeGees performances more than the original Beetles versions.
Aerosmith (who do an incredible version of Come Together), Earth Wind and Fire, Billy Preston and Steve Martin all add to the fun. It's worth watching just to see how many famous faces you can pick out of the rendition of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at the end of the film.
