Review of sex, lies, and videotape (1989) by Elizabeth H — 23 Apr 2009
Innocent housewife Andie MacDowell wises up to her husband's lies when she meets the peculiar loner Graham, who spends his time taping himself interviewing women about their sex lives. Bland dreary drama that owes any potential to James Spader, but that ultimately lacks any real quirk.
Its choice to centre around just four characters could have been a neat way to make a profound claustrophobic drama, but no way is there enough to make that work. Besides, listening to women talking about sex is possibly the most boring thing one can do, so I'd give this one a skip if I were you.
