Review of Sex and the City (2008) by Chris F — 19 Dec 2011

Haha...i hate to admit this, but I actually enjoyed the movie. I've never watched the show...and, prob'ly never will - but, the movie is very well written and directed - and, the cast is just amazing as well. I woulda loved to see more Jennifer Hudson though. Her small role as Carrie's assistant was small - but, impactful. Carrie's character is a writer. So, the movie is presented as a book, basically. Though, it does kind of show that love isn't as it's presented in books, or movie's. There's actually a subtle reference to that when Carrie's reading Cinderella to Charlotte's daughter. There's subtle references to everything. But - it's still a fairy tale love regardless of how you look at it. On the upside, it spoke to me. How? It shows that you don't need to get married to be happy. That it's just a label, and labels don't much matter. Wow...for some reason, everything revolved around "labels" lol. So, yea - it's got that going for it....and, the drama thrown in is just enough for women to get attached lol. Honestly, there's not alot a guy can relate to in this movie. Except for some of the relationship stuff.

As I mentioned, the cast is brilliant! Chris Noth plays "Big" really well. I think he's the main reason why I wanted to check out this movie. I love him in Law and order: CI...so, I wanted to see the role that basically opened him up to the mainstream public. And...Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis are absolutely...gorgeous. Sarah is too...but, her nose is....well...yea lol. But, for the age all these chicks are...i'm amazed they don't look a day over 30.

All in all - the story is nice. The characters and the build up are brilliant...and, the writing of this story for the big screen is just....WOW! And, I can honestly say that I expect a 2nd movie in the works. They left it open just enough.

Yea, I know - i'm a guy, and I love this movie! It pains me to say that lol. If you're a guy who can handle watching a chick fest for a little under 2 and a half hours - watch it. Your chick will thank you. And then some ;).
