Too long? Yes. Bit sappy? Yes, but wasn't the series? The writing was lacking, no question. But .... one of the reasons we loved them in the first place is that they were three quarters imperfection and one quarter fantasy.
If you're one of the millions who faithfully followed them week to week on HBO (please, the sanitized reruns don't count), then how could you NOT be thrilled to see them getting older right along with you and still falling in and out of love? Not a perfect movie, but it was still divine.
