Review of Sex and the City 2 (2010) by Lisa G — 04 Feb 2012
Second film made after the popular TV series that followed the sexual endeavours of 4 successful female new Yorkers. But I have to say that this film should have been called âRelationships and the Cityâ? or even better âRelationships and the desertâ? because half the movie is set in Abu Dhabi. I can tell that as sex goes there is very little here except for the antics of the very forward Samantha, and there arenâ(TM)t that many of those either. The other three girls are a bit quiet because they are married, so in this film we can see their struggles with work, fidelity and offspring; sex becomes something barely sketched in the background.
The film starts a bit slow but picks up once they are invited to Abu Dhabi. I confess that I didnâ(TM)t even pay that much attention to the dialogues nor to the story, I was far too busy looking at the luxury of the locations and to the exquisite wardrobe of these ladies, the shoes, the bags, the jewels, the designer outfits... The film seems like a perfect excuse to show us the sophisticated looks of the main characters, like if it was a cat walk. If someone out there doesnâ(TM)t know what to offer me on my birthday any of those dresses would do ;-).
