Review of Sex and the City 2 (2010) by Jonathan B — 23 Oct 2018
As a last outing for a much loved TV series, Sex and the City 2 is a rather dismal affair having a wafer thin plot that is stretched beyond breaking point. There are a few of the old-style laughs as the four girlfriends, Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha gossip and lunch their way around the glamorous dining spots and fashion centres of New York and, for the purposes of this movie, Dubai.
There is a gloriously camp gay wedding that provides an early highlight but, sadly, there's just not enough momentum to the plot and the situations the four friends find themselves in to maintain the interest and the entertainment and it all becomes a little sad by the end.
Due to the very public fallings out between cast members, we really won't be seeing another outing for the girls and given the weakness of this feature, that is perhaps all the better.
