Review of Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (2010) by Juha P — 15 May 2010
Visually innovative and (at times) amazing movie, the "Passing Strange of film", is a mix of vaudeville, biography and drama. The screenplay is clever, the cast is superb and the soundtrack wonderful. I would not be surprised to see this produced as a musical in West End - and it would work!
The flick could have been streamlined more, it did not always stay true to the form the director had chosen. Also the characters were left shallow, we saw lots of action but at times the arc was lost. However, definitely worth watching as a visual piece of art.
