Review of Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (2010) by Nickie L — 07 Jun 2010
What a mess of a film - mostly because of the horrible re-enactments of Ian Dury's childhood, complete with sad-music, and frequent slow motion. Didn't fit at all with the rest of the film - either the theatrical narration, or the straightforward telling of the fame story.
Pretty boring mostly. He came across as an utter pillock, which can't be helped if he really was an utter pillock, but I like to come away from my musical biopics wanting to buy the back catalogue, not burn it.
