Christopher Smith whose 2004 film Creep was a welcome change to a very dull string of straight to DVD garbage, came back bigger and better with 2006's Severance which is one of the more enjoyable films I have seen and proves once again that just because it goes straight to the DVD rack doesn't mean that it isn't a good movie, Severance being an excellent example of that sentiment.

Severance is a very well thought plot involving several members of a weapons manufacturing firm called Palaside whom have taken a trip deep into the woods of Budapest. What seems to be a lovely retreat turns out to be anything but as it is revealed that the area was once occupied by political prisoners deemed to violent for society. No problem right! Wrong, it seems these prisoners escaped some several years back and now have a grievance to file with the company and will do anything and everything to anyone who works for Palaside.

Full of the irreverent off the cuff humor we've come to expect from our brothers across the pond, as well as some gorey tidbits for the kiddies. I really enjoyed Severance and also if you enjoy this movie then you might want to check out The Cottage, which is equally as good.
