Review of Seventh Son (2014) by Jason D — 01 May 2015
I will be completely honest with you, this movie doesn't really deserve a 3 but I liked it. The way the movie started was great, it really captured me into this world and I got invested immediately.
Jeff Bridges was great! His character was interesting, and he really seems to shine as that father figure type that has to train a young one. Julianne Moore was great as well, she really did a good job making you hate her character.
I love fantasy. I love fantasy worlds and heroes, and dragons, and monsters, and magic. I am a nerd. After a while the story just drops out and you stop caring about anyone in this movie. Ben Barnes's character, the seventh son, is never truly developed, and you get no back story on him.
The creature "Tusk" you just don't know anything about. There is a very cliché and forced romance that never made any sense and was extremely hard to swallow. I can absolutely see this being a guilty pleasure movie and I will probably buy this Blu Ray.
