Review of Seventh Son (2014) by Smith T — 18 Feb 2018
I'm really confused when talent attaches themselves to a film that is clearly missing a central filmmaker to steer. This film has Bridges mumbling the entire film when he has a key presence, I'm just amazed they chose to do this.
Bodrov was not the correct filmmaker for this film and it killed what could have been an interesting franchise. Year after year, you see this franchise killing films that take a high concept and dumb it down to the max.
This is a series of books and they ignore most of the book, why? I think it's time for Hollywood to embrace the source material, Marvel can do it so well. The characters are dull, the special effects are messy and the action is tedious at best.
These films deserve to fail but on the other hand the creative team should be locked away in movie jail for a year or two, just to learn you can't take a pay check when the film is an obvious dud.
