Review of Seven Years in Tibet (1997) by Michael G — 07 Feb 2014
Engaging and well shot, even if it plays fast and loose with its source material (and history). Pitt holds the screen, but not for one minute do you believe he is an Austrian, nor is he particularly likeable.
The unsung hero of this film is David Thewlis, who delivers a typically superb performance as a soft-spoken and decent man. It may be a bit full of itself, but it's hard to be minimalist when shooting the Himalayas.
