Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Dave C — 01 Jul 2011
Seven Samurai is a marvelous, sweeping epic that deserves the staggering amount of praise that's been heaped upon it over the years. Even at 3 and a half hours, it never wavers despite its relatively simple story of samurais protecting a faming village from bandits.
Kurosawa takes his time weaving this tale, and it's never once dull, boring, or over-long. It's a stunning achievement for the medium.
