It does breathless things with the medium of film. Everything is in the right place. Stone. Cold. Brilliance. TOSHIRÃ" MIFUNE, as the seventh samurai, the triangle on the flag, gives one of the best performances in film ever; barefoot, bare-arsed and kabuto akimbo in the rain and mud, Mifune was still the best samurai on the block.
