Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Andrew K — 11 Nov 2012
A very well done movie overall. It has that 50's epic feel with an intermission and an extremely long running time. However, the story of warriors being hired to defend a village is a simple one that is slowly drawn out. Most of the samurai are well characterized, especially Katsushiro and Kikuchiyo. The relationship between the samurai and the villagers is important to the themes of the movie. Overall, a must-see film for anyone who's a fan of action movies.
However, this movie may not appeal to everyone. If subtitles, foreign actors, and drawn out plots are not your thing, you may not enjoy it. That being said, go watch this!
