Review of Seven Psychopaths (2012) by Van T — 25 May 2013
I remember McDonagh's first full lenght film "In Bruges" as a really enjoyable piece. It's been a while, but that film got a great atmosphere and packaging as I remeber it. Firstly, "Seven Psychopaths" has great casting. It's quite funny and the action is cool. I like the fact that it's about moviemaking as the story develops, a quite cool feature not done too many times before. It does not turn out as well as it could, so it may have been better off - the changes would not have been that huge I believe.
The film starts off great, but sadly it turns out a bit sour - it's flattens out in a way and it tries a bit too hard.
I like the charcters, I like the humour and I like the violence, but this is where the comparison.
With "In Bruges" stops. This is the directors second full lenght, and so far his second best film.
6 out of 10 psychopaths.
