Very depressing and not in a good way. It's a bland excuse to give Will Smith an Oscar nomination. The premise is decent, unfortunately it failed in executing it.

The mystery behind his character's upcoming suicide at the beginning is ruined thanks to excessive foreshadowing. This type of story technique has been done better before this was made including Fight Club, The Machinist, The Illusionist, The Prestige, Pan's Labyrinth, Michael Clayton and Swordfish. Those films worked because they give us character development and setups to what will happen to the opening scene(s). This however feels like waiting for a package you ordered online, you know what's going to happen and you're very impatient.

The main character commits identity fraud, assault and other felonies that will send him to jail. Whenever they show a depressing scene, it feels like watching a Hallmark made-for-TV movie.

This fails in writing and the other actors are wasted. Just because it's a sad motion picture, doesn't mean it's a good one.
