Review of Session 9 (2001) by Alex S — 27 Oct 2008
This is a great movie. I've read it got bad reviews, but I'll chalk that up to the massive a.d.d. the populace suffers from; not being able to watch a movie that has an actual PLOT and takes time to understand all the facets of.
The cast is minimal and all involved are very believable in their respective roles. The music adds immensely to the atmosphere, along with the movie actually being filmed in the abandoned Danver State Asylum (I believe, perhaps I am mistaken).
As an odd occurrence in modern horror films, this movie does not rely of endless amounts of gore, but rather a perpetual sense of unease and ever-developing plot that doesn't completely unfold until the very end; even still leaving some questions unanswered.
I will say if you watch it expecting to catch every subtle nuance right off the bat, you'll be disappointed. Definitely not for the average movie goer looking for another rehash of Texas Chainsaw massacre pt.
32.
