Review of Session 9 (2001) by Tristan G — 26 Mar 2009
What a horrific, hellish, and realistic horror film. A group of exterminators are hired to clean out an abandoned insane asylum in a week. Things don't go so well and by the end of the film, there isn't much left of who these people originally are s they all completely lose it.
I found this to be a strong and atmospheric film that still manages to keep the idea of insanity on a real mature level. It's a very good film with some wonderfully creepy stuff. Most of the real freaky stuff happens behind closed doors or in the dark, but the film gets incredibly gruesome at the end.
And I got to say, the ending, while good, isn't as effective as the rest of the film, but this isn't enough to hurt it. One other slight flaw is that the characters spend a little too much time getting freaked out by shit.
It's a beautiful film though, and it doesn't fuck around. A must-see for horror film lovers.
